Bahamas Atoll Islands

If searching for PROPERTY FOR SALE BAHAMASit is good to know a little history about the islands that make up the Bahamas. American Loyalists began to settle on Crooked Island in 1783, they were former plantation owners and they also brought their slaves with them, the island was pretty much untouched and undiscovered before this time. The plantation owners came to the island to form Cotton plantations, and there were 40 plantations by the 19th century. Acklins Island is an island which is situated at the eastern side of Crooked Island; it is one of the least known islands in the Bahamas chain and is the island that makes up the southern and southeastern part of the islands chain. Long Cay is another part of the Atoll which is made up by the 4 islands it was formerly known as Fortune Island and is to the west of Crooked Island the island is virtually unpopulated and in 1980 the population was registered at 33.
